Dear Comrades,

The New Communist Party and its weekly journal, the New Worker, sends its warmest fraternal greetings to the 18^th Congress of the Communist Party of Greece.

The Greek communists’ heroic struggle for liberation and against reactionary terror over the decades is an inspiration to communists in Europe and throughout the world. The theses of the Central Committee of the KKE will  consequently provide the basis for discussion and advance that will go far beyond the ranks of the Greek communist movement.

The Communist Party of Greece’s tireless work to restore international communist co-operation has played a crucial role in rallying our world movement following the counter-revolutions in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe in 1989.

Communists throughout the world are continuing to struggle for peace and revolutionary change.  Communists are in the vanguard in the struggle for peace, to end the criminal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; in support of the heroic Palestinians and Iraqis struggling to restore their legitimate rights and shoulder to shoulder with everyone fighting for freedom and independence.

Communists are the vanguard of the struggle for a better tomorrow free from oppression and exploitation. In Britain we are campaigning for the immediate and unconditional withdrawal of all British troops from Iraq, Afghanistan and northern Ireland, opposition to the European Union and its structures and in support for the workers’ demands for higher pay and the restoration of the “welfare state”.

Only socialism can solve the problems of the peoples of the world. Only socialism can emancipate the working class. Only socialism can end all war. Only socialism can build the new world that Marx and Engels foresaw, that Lenin and Stalin built with Soviet power and that millions of communists strive for in the 21^st   century. We face the future with confidence. This will be the century of the working class!
