The work in the movements, and the various rallying of forces on the road to build the front

The Party will act in a united direction, which will be specialised, and adapted creatively in accordance with the various forms and fronts of struggle, whether it be in a general socio-political rallying of forces, a mass organization, amongst women, in the area of the arts and the intelligentsia, amongst young people and scientists etc.

Activity based on the strategy of the Party means that in the front line will be the contribution to the increase of political experience and the passing to a new level of quality of work which will lead to the movement again being able to bring more pressure to bear.

The strengthening of the Party requires that:

All its forces be orientated first of all towards the working class and the trade union movement. That the decisions taken at the panhellenic conference after the 16th Congress are put into practice.

The work for the united action of the working class in a militant class direction and its alliance with the other popular strata, the lower middle urban strata and the small farmers has a special importance. To strengthen the front against views and practices which split the workers according to their form of employment, industry and sector of the economy, and nationality. An essential aspect of our work must be systematic activity to organize immigrant workers. To oppose racist and nationalist views. To raise the rallying of forces of salaried intellectuals.

The social alliance of the working class and the other popular strata is not simply a question of solidarity, but making it understood that they have common interests against the policies of monopoly capital and the imperialist centres.

To give importance to the battle to face critical problems which are apparent in the trade union movement, to raise the level of organization and political consciousness of the workers. That there be planned steps for the change of the balance of forces in the trade union movement in favour of the militant class forces.

To raise the level of struggle against the reactionary restructurings, supporting the overall platform for struggle which the CC published in January 2003, which must be enriched with new demands and goals which the new developments demand and satisfy the contemporary needs of the workers. That we contribute decisively to the broadening and rooting of PAME in all industries and workplaces.

To support the rallying of forces amongst the small farmers, to strengthen PASY, and to bring in to being an anti-monopoly pole in the intermediate strata.

To strengthen the anti-war and anti-imperialist movement, the movement of solidarity with the peoples who suffer. For the front for democratic liberties to become an important part of our work in the trade unions and other mass organizations.

There exists the need and possibility to develop initiatives and specific fronts of cooperation and the rallying of forces on new areas and issues, such as Education, Culture, Sports, the protection of the environment, and the health and diet of the people.

We must form a front of struggle in local government, which now acts as a lever for the application of anti-people policies.

The CC must study the question of the forms of rallying of forces amongst salaried scientists. Also it must study the position of the intelligentsia in today’s circumstances.

There are also exists the need for the CC to elaborate the front of struggle against the EU and NATO, with the result that this is expressed in a concrete form of rallying of forces, and against the choices and commitments that actually affect every aspect in the life of the people and its right to determine its own present and future.

That we contribute to raise the mass nature and militancy of the mass popular organisations. That there exist respect for their organisational independence, that they put forward demands and that they are bound together militantly and forcefully, that the theses of the Party persuade, influence and help the rallying of forces, so that a wider spectrum of relationships with the vanguard are developed through them.

The activity of the Party to support the rallying of young people, based on the necessity of the AADF, through their activity in mass organizations, trade unions and the other areas of the mass movement.

The constitution of the Party highlights the need for all members of the Party to take part in a mass organisation, primarily their trade union or professional association. Through this requirement the bureaucratisation and weakening of mass organizations will be better opposed, as well as their incorporation into the system and their failure to adjust to the new situation, which have the bourgeois parties and opportunists have consciously and in a planned way brought to pass. Through the participation of the members of the Party in the trade unions and mass organisations the contribution to the widening of PAME , PASY etc with new forces will be greater, with the result that they will develop into a flag of resistance, to which the workers can pin their hopes to.

The mass organisations will acquire a mass character and radical orientation, they will succeed in launching a counterattack, to the extent which they agitate on the problems of the people consistently and in a planned way. In opposition to the damaging views which would lead the movement unto a line of collaboration and its paralysis.

It is the responsibility of the members of the Party, e.g. with the right communication, to help to attract into the mass organizations active people who will take part and take up positions of responsibility.

That we help in the variety of our open meetings which help in the development of a militant direction and bring to life the interest in organized activity. To develop initiatives for the setting up of new forms of resistance which are revealed through experience and activity.

The mass organizations to develop multi-faceted activity, to develop activity related to the question of free time, culture and the struggle against all drugs.

The Party organizations must help the sections of PEAEA and the organization of relatives and friends of the National Resistance and the Democratic Army of Greece.

The predicate for the rallying of forces is the liberation of the working class and popular strata from the influence of the bourgeois parties and opportunism.

To raise the level of the ideological front within the mass movement against the anti-people policies of the government of ND. To reveal the pseudo-opposition of PASOK and the policy of consensus, fatalism, class collaboration, and political incorporation which these forces as well as SYN promote.
