Issues of the ideological-political front
Issues on which the Party must concentrate, in its theoretical and research departments, based always on the developing social reality, and in contact with the needs of the struggle are the following:
Firstly: The development of our view on socialism, to continue the effort to come to more complete conclusions on the causes of the overthrow of the socialist states. The new CC must develop a specific programme and study forms of collective discussions of these elaborations.
Secondly: The better study of the condition of the working class today, the developments in its composition. A more complete projection of its historical mission for the overthrow of capitalism and the building of socialism.
Thirdly: Systematic and in-depth study into issues of strategy and tactics, using the historical experience of the Party, taking account of the specific historical conditions in which they were developed. These issues will be broadened by the publishing of the second volume of the history of the Party, which will be a basis for discussion within the Party.
Fourth: Systematic theoretical research, study and the generalisation of experience on the issue of imperialism. In this framework to study more systematically the tendencies and developments which relate to the position of our country in the imperialist system, on the issue of the internationalisation of the class struggle.
A more general coordination of the departments of the CC is needed. The use of the scientists within the Party and KNE is also needed. The development of work with scientists and intellectuals who are close to the Party or interested in working with it on certain contemporary issues.
To intensify the effort to develop marxist scientists. To decisively strengthen KME.
To give particular importance to the raising up of the quality of our propaganda in terms of its form and its content.
This will make it more persuasive, attractive and effective in the ideological front and in projecting our position for the AADF, along with the dissemination and development of the theory of scientific socialism. With a scientific basis, it must reveal the laws and characteristics which define the imperialist stage of capitalism.
Our propaganda must become more effective, lively and multi-faceted. Images, usic, and art are also spaces for the projection of ideas, the cultivation of aesthetics, and can play an educational role. Reading, study, the written word are still though the most important ways of projecting ideas and understanding.
The publications of the party, communist review, and their dissemination are irreplaceable weapons in our work. All the members of the Party must acquire a different stance concerning their study, individually and collectively, in the form of classes and self-education, so that the party can answer its complex responsibilities.
The daily study and dissemination of Rizospastis is an important factor in the improvement of our leading work.
The CC and its organs must take concrete measures to help the upsurge of the ideological level of all the party’s forces. To encourage the focussing on the ideological aspect of every issue at the meetings of the party base organisations.
Anticommunist and antisocialist propaganda is a basic front of bourgeois ideology to cover-up the blatantly aggressive and class character of the capitalist restructurings. The front against the ideology of imperialism must become sharper, more revealing, more lively, since pervades every form of social problem and interest, and influences people’s way of life. Our propaganda must touch deeply all the factors and views which reproduce and intensify the problem of alienation and incorporation.
The ideological front and its elaborations must acquire a better quality in the ideological and political conflict with opportunist views and theories. It is obvious that the struggle against imperialism is impossible without a developed front against the bourgeois parties, social democracy and opportunism.
In a period where the movement is in retreat, opportunism supports without any hesitation, with one method or the other bourgeois ideology, and its anticommunist and antisocialist campaign. In periods where the movement is ready to strike back, it does not hesitate to criticise the bourgeois parties, to appear to keep a distance from social democracy, while nevertheless keeping to a stable social democratic programmatic direction.
The “anti-neoliberal” proposal which it promotes not only is distant from but actually is in opposition to an anti-imperialist anti-monopoly direction. Its central idea, that is possible to reform the capitalist market and to wed capitalist restructuring with social policies in favour of the workers, is an obstacle to the development of class struggle.
The stance in relation to the EU is clear indicator of the programme of a party, especially of a party which professes socialism. The commitment of a party to the logic of the EU as being inevitable cancels out every radical declaration for radical policies at the national level, for its differentiation from social democracy.
The difference between the Party and opportunism lies in which strategic line the popular movement can win advances, have successes, which will give it not just a temporary improvement in the quality of life, but the optimism to reach further ahead still.
The ideological-political opposition to SYN, as the organised battalion of opportunism, is necessary because of the damaging role it plays in the cultivation of illusions and disorientation of radical forces in Greece and international activities.
