The responsibility of the Party to assist KNE and the youth movement
The strengthening of the Party can be judged also by its work in the Youth.
The multi-faceted attack which young people are on the receiving end of, through the whole plethora of restructurings, objectively gives rise to strong tendencies to be incorporated into the prevailing logic of the system.
At the same time, nevertheless, hopeful signs of its radicalisation are apparent, of its struggle concerning its problems and its life-prospects.
The Party needs to contribute so that the contemporary problems and needs of young people become an issue more widely for the labour movement. To give concrete support and direction to its struggles and the allying and convergence of young people with the popular movement to struggle on the basic problems at work, in education, concerning culture, and sports. To fight against the factors which cultivate the selling out of consciences, the vicious exploitation of unemployed youth, misinformation, anticommunism, the attack on the virtues of militancy, the modern history of the people and the revolutionary movement in Greece. So that the new generation comes to know the history of the National Resistance, EPON, EAM, the Democratic Army, the militant traditions of the people and the contribution of the KKE. The ideals, the virtues and contribution of socialism which was constructed in the 20th century.
At the centre of the Party’s attention, its bodies and organizations must be political and ideological assistance to KNE, the strengthening more generally of en educational current both within its ranks and more broadly.
The safeguarding of the development of KNE demands systematic help, so that the policies and theses of the Party become known. So that it becomes closer to the historical experience of the Party, so that it is educated about the history of the movement and the Party. The Party, starting from the new CC, must acquire a full and objective picture not only concerning the problems of the youth but also of the way in which it lives and understands things. The goal of strengthening the Party goes hand in hand with the consistent effort of KNE to become more healthy and have a more mass character. The historical contribution of the Party cannot be split off from its mass political-ideological vanguard activity concerning the problems of the youth, its present and its future. All the educational work of the Party and KNE must be designed so that the comrades of KNE will become members of the Party.
The 17th Congress decides that a Panhellenic Party Conference on the Youth will take place, which will mark a turning point on this question.
