The escalation of the antimonopoly - anti-capitalist struggle in the workplaces is the answer to the anti-people political line and State authoritarianism

Strasbourg, 20/5/2013

The MEP of the KKE, Giorgos Toussas, denounced the intensification of the State repression and violence, the criminalization of the workers’ - people’s struggles by the EU and the bourgeois governments in its member states, by the tripartite government of ND-PASOK-Democratic Left in Greece, in his intervention during the Plenary Session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.

The MEP of the KKE cited the following:

"The anti-people political line of the EU and the bourgeois governments in its member states is promoted with a priority to the abolition of the Sectoral Collective Labour Agreements, with devastating changes in social security, mass unemployment, poverty for the working people and intensification of authoritarianism and State repression and violence, with the criminalization of the workers’ - people’s struggles. The anti-people political line of the EU feeds racism and xenophobia and strengthens the fascist - nazi formations. In Greece, the tripartite government of ND-PASOK-Democratic Left has been persecuting the right to strike. After the civil mobilization of the seafarers, the workers in METRO, the municipal workers, the coalition government mobilized also the teachers of the Secondary Education. 98% of the strikes are declared unlawful by the courts. The same offensive is launched by the bourgeois governments in all the EU member states, with Spain being the characteristic example, where tens of leading militants, members and cadres of the CP of the Peoples of Spain, as well as strikers in France, Portugal and other countries of the EU, face prison sentences and devastating fines, because they participated in demonstrations and strikes.

In Greece, on 22 May 2013, the shipowners are taking cadres of the KKE and seafarers, trade unionists of PAME to court, asking for compensations of millions of euros, because they defended the rights of the seafarers with strikes in the sector.

The escalation of the antimonopoly - anti-capitalist struggle of the working class in the workplaces, of the People’s Alliance, and the international proletarian solidarity constitute the response of the class workers’ movement to the anti-popular policy and authoritarianism, for the overthrow of the power of the monopolies, for the People’s Power.
