European Parliamentary Group of the KKE: Unacceptable motion of the European Parliament regarding the Palestinians
The European Parliamentary Group of the KKE made the following statement on 21/11/2012, condemning the joint motion adopted by the majority of the European Parliament in Strasbourg.
“The European Parliamentary Group of the KKE denounces the wretched
joint motion of the Popular Party-Social-democrats-
The empty wishes of the motion about the creation of a Palestinian State and the acceptance of Palestine by the EU as a state which is a non-member observer, merely aim at prettifying the blatant support of the European Parliament and the EU for Israel, their encouragement of its aggressiveness against the Palestinians and the peoples of the region.
We call on the peoples to express their solidarity with the Palestinian people and to strengthen their anti-imperialist struggle. For the cessation of the murderous attacks of Israel in the Gaza Strip. For an independent, viable, and sovereign Palestinian state with the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. The cessation of the settlements and the withdrawal of all the settlers who have set themselves up beyond the 1967 borders. The tearing down of the unacceptable wall. The right of return of all the Palestinian refugees to their homes, based on the relevant UN resolutions. The lifting of every blockade against the Palestinians, in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip. The immediate release of all Palestinian and other political prisoners, who are being held in Israeli gaols. The withdrawal of the Israeli army from all the territories it occupied in 1967, including the Golan Heights and the Shebaa region in Southern Lebanon.
We demand that the Greek government cancel now its military cooperation with Israel. That the base at Suda be immediately closed. That no territory of our country be provided –land, sea, and airspace- for the imperialist war against Syria and Iran, which will have catastrophic consequences for the peoples of Greece and the entire region.
