Draft Law of the KKE for the abolition of the Memoranda-Loan Agreement- Application Laws-Medium Term Programme. Important initiative to relieve the people and to mobilize them
The KKE in this period tabled in Parliament a draft law to abolish the memoranda, the loan agreement, the medium term programme and the application laws, as had been announced after the May 6 elections. This initiative of the KKE is of special importance for the people and the movement, given that it is the only party which consistently struggles for the abolition of the memoranda and all the anti-worker laws which accompany them.
Other parties, like SYRIZA, while it spoke demagogically before the elections about the memoranda, demanding their cancellation, after the first elections it abandoned this specific demand even at the level of slogans and compliantly adopted the rationale of renegotiation, together with ND, PASOK and the Democratic Left. Similarly, the “Independent Greeks”, who demand the legal cancellation of the memorandum and that, our country remains in the EU, something which leads to “renegotiation” via another route. Whatever renegotiation occurs, it will in no instance prevent the rapid impoverishment of a significant section of the population. The renegotiation of Italy and Spain at the recent EU summit, which led SYRIZA to talk triumphantly about a “model negotiating stance”, was immediately accompanied by an announcement of a new raft of barbaric anti-worker measures after the return of Monti and Rajoy to their respective countries.
By tabling this draft law, the KKE seeks to inform the people regarding the real texts of the loan agreement and the memoranda, which never came to Parliament in full. In any case, the abolition of the memorandum, in combination with the unilateral cancellation of the debt and the disengagement from the EU, can be political demands –links in the chain for the development of an aggressive, robust movement which will struggle to defend the interests of the workers, the self-employed and poor farmers.
For the KKE such a struggle must be linked to the prospect of a more general political overthrow. The question of people’s power must be promoted as the only real way out of the crisis in favour of the people.
