The Euro-parliamentary group of the KKE: The political line of the EU-USA-NATO makes Israel even more insolent
The Euro-parliamentary group of the KKE, during the session of the European Parliament in Strasbourg, voting against the resolution entitled “On EU policy on the West Bank and East Jerusalem”, and in explaining its vote it stressed the following:
“The Joint resolution of the European Parliament “on EU policy on the West Bank and East Jerusalem” while it recognises-under the pressure of the struggle of the Palestinian people and the tragic reality-some aspects of the Israeli barbarity, such as the assassinations and imprisonment of Palestinians, the expansion of the settlements, the criminal activity of Israeli occupation forces etc it negates them with a sleight of hand by posing the “right” of Israel to security as a counterweight to the just and legitimate demand for a Palestinian state.
The “security” of Israel is the permanent pretext which is used by the Israeli state to justify the occupation of the Palestinian territories and to legitimise Israel’s crimes against the Palestinian people. The resolution attempts to conceal and prettify the imperialist political line of the EU in the wider region, in the direction of the plan of the “EU-USA-NATO” for the “New Middle East”. The EU has enhanced its relations with Israel and is attempting to consolidate and broaden its imperialist interventions, on the terrain of the sharpest confrontation between the imperialist powers, unions and organizations, which are competing for the exploitation of the natural resources of the region. This political line of the EU and the other imperialists makes Israel even more insolent and impedes the recognition of an independent Palestinian state, sharpens and complicates the problems and is pregnant with enormous dangers for the Palestinian people as well as the other peoples in the region.
The KKE stands in solidarity with and supports with all its strength the just cause of the Palestinian people for an immediate unconditional creation of an independent viable Palestinian state with territorial continuity in the 1967 borders and territory with East Jerusalem as its capital. The immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the Israeli occupation forces from the occupied Palestinian territories. The immediate cessation of the settlements and their dismantlement. The immediate and unconditional lifting of the blockade of the Gaza Strip. The demolition of the Israeli wall of shame in East Jerusalem and the West Bank. The immediate reunion of the Palestinian families in East Jerusalem. The immediate release of all the imprisoned Palestinians and the members of the Palestinian Legislative Council.”
