Statement on the recent anticommunist attacks in the European Parliament

When he undertook his duties as President of the European Parliament, the Social democrat M. Schulz engaged in anticommunism, by ignoring history he equated Fascism-Nazism with Communism. He greeted the activities of the former President of the European Parliament J. Buzek by presenting him as a “symbol of the triumph of democracy” because he played a leading role in the counterrevolution in Poland.

Continuing its efforts for the condemnation of anticommunism, of the slander against socialism and the efforts for beautification of the capitalist barbarity, the Delegation of KKE in the European Parliament, places certain issues for the restoration of truth.

Firstly, these days in the former Socialist countries over 250 people died from the cold because all necessary infrastructures, which were ensured during the period of Socialist construction, have now been destroyed.

Homeless, Unemployed, People who have been thrown out because of capitalism.

THIS IS A CRIME.

Secondly, these days it was announced that in the member states of the European Union only the number of the officially unemployed are 24 million and are even more working under conditions of temporary and partial employment, with terrible wages.

Thirdly, In the name of the capitalist crisis and of the debt for which the workers have no responsibility, a full frontal attack of the capital is developing. Labour rights and pension rights are taken back, wages and pensions are decreased dramatically, and social services are being commercialized and downgraded in order to increase the profits of bankers, industrialists, ship-owners and other parts of the plutocracy.

The people living under the limit of poverty in the EU exceed 140 million based on the official facts but the reality is even more painful.

Fourthly, together with NATO the European Union is preparing a new imperialist war against Iran and Syria. They follow the road that led to the wars against Yugoslavia, Afghanistan, Irak and Libya for the control of oil, natural gas, in general the sources of wealth.

They slaughtered the peoples; they murdered thousands of men and women.

THIS IS A CRIME.

This is capitalism, the system which relies itself in the power of the monopolies and in the capitalist ownership of the means of production, the system that shifts with profit as its criterion and is characterized by the exploitation of man by man.

This system cannot be humanized as all sorts of opportunists claim.

The liberation of the working class, of the peoples from their bonds of exploitation will come only with the overthrow of this barbarity.

Socialism is not what it is presented by the supporters and the apologists of the exploitative system and all sorts of apostates that greeted the counterrevolution.

The working class, the peoples of the Soviet Union and of the other Socialist countries captured power, they overthrew the exploiters.

Socialism was developed through big difficulties, in conflict with the systematic imperialist interventions and sabotages.

In difficult conditions fundamental social problems, which remained unsolved for centuries in capitalism, were solved.

The problem of unemployment was solved and full and stable work with pioneering labour, social security and social rights was ensured.

Big leaps were made in the sectors of Health and Education, in culture and Sports.

National problems were solved and the peoples lived united as one.

Socialism contributed in the deterrence of imperialist aggressiveness. It has big contribution to the overthrow of colonialism. Its achievements constituted an example that gave motivation to the working class and popular struggle in the capitalist countries, through out the world.

Despite the errors, the omissions and the deviations from the rules of Socialist construction, which led to counter-revolutionary inversions, the truth cannot be buried by any anticommunist force.

The peoples, the youth have as obligation to seek for the truth, to compare and draw conclusions on the capitalist and Socialist growth, taking into account the particular conditions.

They have to examine well the raw counterfeiting of historical reality and oppose the vulgar effort to equate Socialism with fascism, with ignorance of history, taking into account that the Soviet Union constituted the decisive force that led to the defeat of Nazism, to the Antifascist Victory, having given 20 millions dead, millions of injured and incalculable material destructions in this struggle.

They need to examine well the enormous offer of communists and compare it with the stance of the bourgeoisie political forces, the so-called "battalions of safety" which collaborated with the conquerors and various Quislings - defenders of the capitalist system.

The peoples look back on socialism, class struggle is accentuated. The European Union plays a leading part in the anticommunist expedition, member states maintain Communist Parties in illegality, they prohibit the use of communist symbols, as it is happening in the Baltic countries, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary.

The state and employer terrorism and repression in all of the member states of the EU are strengthened, democratic rights, trade-union and civil freedoms are affected.

The European Union is maintaining its provocative “Common Position” against Cuba for a lot of years now and it supplements the imperialist embargo that the USA have imposed in order to strike the Cuban Revolution.

We call on the working class, the popular stratas, the youth in Greece and in the whole of Europe to decisively confront anticommunism. We call on them to draw conclusions and to intensify their struggle against capitalist barbarity, to study the experience of Socialist construction, the history of the communist movement and to think well that the answer to the difficulties that they are experiencing is socialism that remains timely and necessary.

The delegation of KKE in the European Parliament will intensify its struggle against anticommunism and will take new initiatives in the framework of the general actions of the Communist Party of Greece.
