Declaration of the KKE delegation in the European Parliament on the shameful decision – conclusion of the Council of the EU of the 9-10 June 2011, "on the memories of the crimes committed by totalitarian regimes in Europe"

The Delegation of the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) in the European Parliament denounces to the working class and the popular strata the shameful 9-10 of June decision-conclusion of the Council of Ministers for Justice and Home Affairs "on the memory of the crimes committed by totalitarian regimes in Europe". This decision-conclusion got the bourgeois governments' consensus, the PASOK government's consensus as well, and affirms that anti-communism goes hand-in-hand with the brutal antipopular measures launched against the people.

This decision is an anti-communist frenzy, part of the anti-communist campaign, which is led by the EU and the bourgeois (social democratic and conservative) governments. With this decision the Council of the EU is taking practical measures and goes beyond the vulgar forgery and the rewriting of history, the anti-historical equation of fascism and communism, and the mudslinging against the working class' gains in the socialist countries. At the same time capital, the EU and the bourgeois governments and parties, are waving the terrorist dilemmas of the Member States' fiscal deficits and public debts, are bending the lives and rights of the working class and of the popular strata, are squeezing the cost of labour to a historically low level, are increasing the monopolies' profitability. They allocate a bundle of money to irrigate the people with the anticommunist poison, especially the young generation and the new generations of the working class.

• Invites the Member - States "to consider how to honor" the "European Day of Remembrance for victims of totalitarian regimes (23rd of August)".
• "It encourages.... the initiatives aimed at informing and educating the public about the totalitarian past of Europe, and to conduct research projects".
• "Community financing and other programs ... to promote such initiatives and projects". "Funding EU projects, including schools and institutions of the higher education .... To promote the participation of beneficiaries from the Eastern Countries, with Partnership, and Russia in joint initiatives".
• "To promote ... research projects or Subsidies in the issue of totalitarian regimes ... and Euro barometer polls".

• "Cultural, educational, with monuments and other actions to increase awareness of crimes committed by totalitarian regimes".

The EU in a practical way creates the conditions and the corresponding political circumstances, to unleash from the bourgeois governments bans, persecutions and repressive measures against the communist ideology and the Marxist - Leninist Communist Parties that held their revolutionary character, as it happens in a series of Member states of the EU today, especially with even greater sharpness and intensity. These are the values of the EU and the bourgeois democracy - dictatorship of the monopolies.

The labor class movement has its historical experience, knows that the attack against the Communists is the bourgeoisie’s prerequisite for hitting the class movement, every people's conquest and right.

The working people, armed with its experience, will crush the hand of the capital and its political staff who go to stand against the communists. Reversing their political correlations to the detriment of the parties of capital, strengthening the Communist Party. Strengthening the socio-political alliance, the struggle for the People's Power and Economy.
