The anti-imperialist siege of the airports of Andravida, Araxos and Aktion where NATO aircrafts launch their murderous attacks

On Sunday 3/04, dynamic demonstrations took place at the gates of the airports of Andravida and Araxos at the initiative of the Ilia and Achaia Prefectural Committees of the KKE. Also on Saturday 2/04, a massive anti-imperialist rally was held by the Peace Committee, OGE, PASY, PASEVE and MAS, at the NATO base, in Aktion, where the planes, NATO's “flying spies” AWACS, take off, in order to bomb Libya. These protests are a continuation of the varied responses of the workers of our country against the imperialist war against the people of Libya and Greece's involvement in it.

As reported by the organizers of the protests "The social democratic PASOK government participates in this new war by ordering the presence there of a Greek frigate, a Greek airborne radar is involved in the coordination of military operations, and has handed over airports (Souda, Araxos, Andravida, Aktion), ports and the airspace of the country, which are already been using by NATO aircrafts and ships from where they launch their murderous attacks.

The organizers stressed the need for ” the Greek people to resolutely oppose the involvement of the country in this brutal war, not only for reasons of solidarity with the people of Libya, but also because their own rights are also targeted by this policy. Because the active participation in imperialist rivalries poses enormous risks for the people. "
