Meeting of KKE with the Syrian Communist Party
On Friday 4th
March, at the Headquarters of the CC of the KKE, a meeting was held
between Aleka Papariga, GS of the CC of the KKE and Ammar Bagdash, GS
of the CC of the Syrian CP, who had been invited to our country by the
KKE. Giorgios Marinos, member of the PB of the CC, Elisseos Vagenas,
member of the CC and responsible for the International Relations Department
of the CC and Ilias Nasir, member of the International Relations Department
of the CC, participated in the delegation of the KKE.
At the epicentre
of the meeting were the assessments of the two parties concerning the
situation in the region, after the popular uprisings in Tunisia, Egypt,
Libya, the mass popular mobilizations in other countries. Views were
exchanged concerning the inter-imperialist contradictions and the imperialist
plans which exist in the region.
The two parties
once again expressed their support for the struggling peoples and denounced
the imperialist interventions against the peoples of the region, interventions
which are being prepared under various pretexts. And so the imperialist
machinations concerning a military intervention in Libya were also denounced
within this framework.
Aleka Papariga
mentioned the initiatives of the KKE against the military cooperation
of our country with Israel, which as the KKE had denounced has as its
goal the preparation of the Israeli military forces for a possible attack
against Iran.
The course of
the global capitalist crisis, the consequence which the peoples experience,
as well as issues concerning the development of the class-oriented labour
movement, the situation in the international communist and anti-imperialist
movement were also questions which were discussed in the meeting.
As the GS of the
CC of the KKE the question today is for the anti-imperialist struggle
to acquire class characteristics. Today there is the opportunity for
the workers to acquire consciousness concerning the dead-ends and limits
of capitalism, as well as the necessity of the prospect of socialism.
