Comment of the Press Office of the CC of the KKE concerning the Government’s plan to fence the Evros River

An Inhumane and Futile Act

The fence which the Government is planning to build on the Evros can only make the treatment of immigrants and refugees even more inhumane and futile.

It will not stop the mass migration of immigrants and refugees, as the wall on the borders of the USA and Mexico failed to stop it.

If the Government really wanted to solve the problem of the concentration of a large number of immigrants, it would allow their passage to other EU countries, something which most of them desire and it would not have transformed the country into a permanent concentration camp for immigrants.

The implementation of the Dublin Regulation, the barbaric agreements and directives of the EU, which the PASOK-ND governments implement, the surrender of sovereign rights to Frontex, have transformed our country into the bulwark of the EU against the immigrants which the EU does not desire- at the same time when the EU and its various governments through their policies contribute to the intensification of the phenomenon of immigration.

A celebration for the children of workers from all over the world!

The Athens’ Party Organization of the KKE organized on Sunday a celebration for the children of workers from all over the world. The sight of them brought to mind memories of their tortured countries and their peoples: Palestine, Iraq, Afghanistan, Kurdistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Egypt, and Tanzania. The celebration was for the children of immigrant workers who from the cradle have known poverty, exploitation, class barriers and war. This was a celebration which had no relationship with the fake charity of this period, but highlighted the solidarity of the peoples. The hall of the Construction Workers’ Union , which hosted the children’s celebration, “welcomed” dozens of little girls and boys , with their mothers and fathers who came ,as they said themselves, to celebrate, to sing, to play and to speak with children from all over the world.
