The KKE MEPs disagreed with Bisky's election as GUE/NGL President
Concerning the election of Lothar Bisky as the President of GUE/NGL, the MEPs of KKE delegation, which participates in the GUE/NGL group, made the following statement:
“During the GUE/NGL group meeting today, concerning the election of the Group’s President, the KKE delegation in the European Parliament expressed their disagreement to the election of Lothar Bisky as the President of the Group. Given that he is also the President of the European Left Party, a party with which the Communist Party of Greece has strong ideological and political disagreements, his election as GUE/ NGL President will create problems to the confederal character of the GUE/NGL group.
In the relevant GUE/NGL press release, Lothar Bisky was claimed to have been elected unanimously, falsifying the truth and attempting to conceal the clear-cut KKE position. The KKE MEPs immediately drew the attention to this fact in a letter sent to L. Bisky himself and the GUE/NGL secretariat, demanding for the necessary correction.
The KKE delegation in the European Parliament will firmly continue expressing the positions of the Party in the European Parliament and defending the interests of the working class and the other popular strata.”
