Festival KKE-KNE: Solidarity with Socialist Cuba

The Communist and Workers’ Parties gathered in Athens on the occasion of the 90th anniversary of KKE and the 40th anniversary of KNE and their Festival, are expressing their unconditional support and solidarity to the Cuban Revolution, its people and leadership, especially these moments of the disastrous consequences of the two hurricanes “Gustav” and “Ike” for the island of the revolution and its people.

Despite the minimal loss of lives, due to the well prepared measures of evacuation and the brave participation of the Cuban people, organizations and institutions, the destruction of thousands of houses, of the electricity network has been huge. Likewise the production of food and other agricultural products has been affected seriously.

Apart from the necessary measures already being taken by Cuba we call upon all progressive and peace loving people of the world to express their solidarity to the island by all means and forms.

These two hurricanes have been the strongest ones of the last 50 years. Nevertheless the consequences of them are very low in comparison to the ones of the imperialist, criminal economical and financial blockade imposed by the US administration all these decades on Cuba.

We reiterate our firm demand for an immediate end of the blockade and denounce the hypocritical “interest” shown by the US administration for a symbolical support based on conditions. Likewise we denounce the double moral of the EU which maintains its “Common Position” and their interference in the internal affairs of Cuba.

We furthermore denounce the illegal imprisonment of the five Cuban patriots in the USA, which are completing already ten years in inhuman conditions, as an act of political revenge against the Socialist Cuba. We demand the immediate release of the “Cuban Five” and express our conviction that the Cuban Revolution having entered the 50th year since its triumph will continue the path of anti-imperialist resistance and socialist construction, as a luminous example for the peoples of Latin America and the world.
