Festival of KKE-KNE in Thessaloniki
The festival of KKE-KNE was held in Thessaloniki on 12th -14th September 2008 and met with great success. More than 30,000 people attended the events of the festival, which was dedicated to the 90th anniversary of KKE and the 40th of KNE.
In the framework of the festival was also held the 9th Balkan Meeting of Communist and Workers Parties from Bulgaria, Greece, Croatia, FYROM, Turkey, Serbia and Albania. The participants issued a joint statement expressing their solidarity with the people of Cuba and demanding the immediate release of the Cuban 5.
The delegates of the Balkan communist and workers’ parties visited and laid a wreath at the monument of the workers that were assassinated in Thessaloniki during the big strike of May 1936.
The celebration of the anniversaries will culminate with the central KKE-KNE festival in Athens to be held on 18th-21th September.
