Message to the CC of AKEL
“Dear comrades,
Please accept our warmest congratulations on the election of the General Secretary of the CC of AKEL, comrade Dimitris Christofias, as President of the Republic of Cyprus. This significant success, under the current conditions in which the “new order” prevails, constitutes a fitting rewarding for the long-standing struggles of the Cypriot communists. Undoubtedly, it bears the seal of the determinant contribution of the members and friends of AKEL and EDON.
KKE will always stand firmly in solidarity with your struggles so that the Cypriot people cope successfully with the imperialist plans and plots; that their wish for the reunification of their homeland be vindicated in the frame of a bi-zonal bi-communal federation; that they live peacefully in a free, independent and sovereign Cyprus, common homeland for both Greek-Cypriots and Turkish-Cypriots, without foreign troops, “guarantors” and “protectors”.
