Aleka Papariga urges continuous action for Cyprus solution

KKE’s General Secretary Aleka Papariga stressed the need for continuous action to create the conditions that will lead to a fair and viable solution in Cyprus, in an interview published on Tuesday by the Cypriot newspaper "Haravgi" which is AKEL’s daily.

Papariga stated that developments showed that the rejection of the Annan Plan on Cyprus “did not lead to a catastrophe”, while at the same time she berated the EU stance on the issue, maintaining that EU decisions took neither international law nor the peoples’ rights into consideration.

Papariga also referred to the domestic situation in Greece and the struggles of KKE, underscoring that the majority of the people are aware of the fact that the two major parties, the ruling New Democracy and main opposition PASOK. The question is the popular strata to become confident of their strength and to break away from these two parties.
