Action against anticommunism
The parliamentary group of KKE addressed a letter to all MPs of the Greek parliament concerning the recent anti-communist evens in Europe and the atmosphere that they create. The letter, which is signed by Orestis Kolozof, spokesman of KKE at the Greek Parliament, notes that “in the last period we witness a multiplication of events that create justifiable worries for the future, since it seems that a sickly atmosphere is being promoted that may lead in a “witch hunt”.
The parliamentary group of KKE reminds some of the recent anticommunist measures (eg. the anti-communist motion presented to PACE last January, the recent anti-communist resolution of the European parliament that condemns the communist ideology, the case of KSM and others) as well as older cases like the situation in the Baltic States and prohibitions that exist in other European countries.
The letter reminds that “the historical experience teaches that the banner of anticommunism has been used to justify the persecution of every different opinion”, and concludes that “it is a duty of all of us to intervene in order to put a stop to this course that offends the democratic rights and liberties”.
