Statement in European Parliament on Zimbabwe
European Parliamnet Group
“Every people has the right and the sense of responsibility to solve their political problems. No one – neither the E.U. nor Britain and the U.S.A.- is justified to intervene in the political, financial and military affairs of Zimbabwe or any other country.
The people of Zimbabwe have managed to gain their independence from Britain after a long, hard and bloody struggle and they are now fighting to gain their land which is occupied by foreigners – mainly British- as a consequence of colonialism. Today we are facing an project of intervention which aims at transforming Zimbabwe in a modern colony.
Using as an excuse the problems that may exist and derive from the the delay caused by the long period of colonialism, the opposition in Zimbabwe is financed by the governments of Britain and other countries. On the other hand, a network of the so- called Non- Governmental Organisations is being set up. Most of these are ghost- organisations with no relation to the popular and social movement and serve the purpose for an external intervention.
The common draft resolution of all political groups is unacceptable. Even the denounce of the former and current undercover agents of the British Secret Service who were arrested while carrying weapons, has been deleted.
The economic and political sanctions must be lifted by the E.U. as they violate fundamental principles of International Law.
We support the people of Zimbabwe and their fight against the neo-colonialism and their struggle for their independence.”
