Statement on the report “The necessity of an international condemnation of the crimes of communism” of PACE

To the President of the Parliamentary
Assembly of the Council of Europe
Mr. Rene Van der Linden

Honorable President!

We, the representatives of communist, workers’ and left parties of the countries of Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America, who have gathered at the International meeting of the capital of Greece, Athens, address you with the demand of ceasing the political provocation and withdrawing from examination the report on “The necessity of an international condemnation of the crimes of communism”. The discussion of this issue at the meeting of the political committee on the 13th of September of this year, in Paris, demonstrated that primitive anti-communism is unacceptable for sober-minded people. Nevertheless, as far as we are informed, the initiators of this report do not give up their efforts to bring it up for discussion, once more, in the immediate future.

We call upon you, Mr. President, to stop these efforts and not impart to PACE an inappropriate trial function.
