[27.04.2006] Regarding the eventual visit of Condoleezza Rice to Greece

Statement by the KKE Press Office

The US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is not welcome to visit Greece.

Her presence in our country will lead only to negative consequences for our people. If at the end, the visit will take place, than the working people and youth will meet her in the manner she deserves.

The fact that only few days ago Condoleezza Rice met with the Greek Foreign Minister Dora Bakoyannis raises the question about the real purpose of this, eventual, visit to Greece. Should we think about a possible connection with the preparations for a war against Iran?

The Communist Party of Greece stresses once again that a direct or an indirect participation of the government of the New Democracy in the criminal scenarios of the US preparation against Iran will have disastrous consequences for the Greek working people.

The shutting down of the US base at the Souda bay in Crete and the refusal to provide any kind of "facility" to the imperialist aggressors are demands of vital importance as already expressed in an absolute way by the Greek people.

The New Democracy as well as the PASOK- party will assume again a huge responsibility in case they intent to repeat once again the behavior and policy exercised during the war on Iraq.

KKE calls upon the working people and youth to be prepared and to stay in alert in face of any negative move.
