The Party finances

The plan of action proposed in the Theses, which will be adopted by the Congress, enriched by the proposals of the delegates, requires not only higher political, ideological and organisational capabilities. It also requires that more money be spent, e.g. to upgrade and improve, to enrich our mass propaganda, especially to improve our party publications and the television channel "902", but also to support the Party work on a scientific basis. More funds are required to improve the Party's international activity.

Of course, improving quality should not be identified in all cases with finances. There are in the Party, and beside it, forces that can contribute as volunteers with zeal, without this always requiring more expenditure.

Whatever can be improved by the better utilisation and rallying of forces, must be improved.

However, good and proper management is not enough by itself. The need to increase the Party's financial resources remains, if we look at things and how they are evolving.

The main and basic factor is that all the Party members contribute not only on the basis of their statutory obligations, but at the same time they combine political and financial work. The working people and the strata of the people who are suffering support the Party when we approach them. Even under recession conditions, it can obtain financial support from most members.

Today, with eyes turned to the problems of the people and the youth, we continue and step up our efforts for the people, for the alliance and for socialism.

Based on the Party's many years of history and experience, what we have already gained during these difficult years counts for a great deal. There is a Programme, a political proposal, and greater maturity today in doing more effective work. All these count. Stability counts, as does the bravery which is expressed as a daily attitude to life, which does not bow its head, which does not close its eyes to reality, which does not compromise, but fights to bring the people to centre stage, headed by the working class, to change this reality.

We are optimistic and not day-dreaming. We are not alone. We never believed that we were in danger of remaining alone. We believe in the people and in their strength. Many who hesitated yesterday have entered the struggle today. Many who hesitate today will also join in, will write pages in the history of the labour movement and in the history of the people. Around us there are popular forces, militant men and women, there are working people who are beginning to think, to draw conclusions. We want to go forward with them, to open a dialogue and rally together.

The history of the movement and the Party has brought to the fore historic eponymous and anonymous figures of fighters who suffered much, who gave their lives without thinking twice. We honour them; they teach us; they give us strength with their example. There are many forms of heroism, among which is the heroism of daily work which may give the impression that it has no tangible results. But thanks to this work, which requires patience and revolutionary perseverance, great and strong days will come.
