USA- NATO and the EU encourage and support the criminal policy of Israel against the Palestinian people
Press Release - Strasbourg, 23/11/2009
USA- NATO and the EU encourage and support the criminal policy of Israel against the Palestinian people.
With his intervention during the Plenary of the European Parliament today in Strasbourg Georgios Toussas, MEP of the Communist Party of Greece, denounced the encouragement and support of Israel’s criminal policy against the Palestinian people by the USA- NATO and the EU.
The MEP of the Communist Party of Greece, underlined the following:
“The imperialist support policy of Israel by NATO and the USA, the enhancement of the relations and generally the issues included in the EU- Israel Association Agreement, reinforce the Israeli aggressiveness and intolerance against the Palestinian people.
According to the data, this year has been by far the “bloodiest” year for the Palestinian people.
Only during the Israeli military operation “cast lead” (27.12.2008 – 18.01.2009) 1443 Palestinians were murdered (among them 340 children and 111 women).
9.600 Palestinians are held illegally, without a trial, in the Israeli prisons.
The wall of disgrace is currently extended to 450 kilometers and will soon reach 750 kilometers.
On the West Bank but also in East Jerusalem houses and infrastructure are being demolished. Israel is expanding its settlements on the occupied and illegally annexed Palestinian territories, with almost 500.000 settlers being on the West Bank and 190.000 in East Jerusalem.
We express our solidarity with the Palestinian people for an immediate, just and viable solution of the Palestinian issue according to the UN decisions 194, 338, 237.
We demand the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the territories of 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, which will have sovereignty over its territory and borders and will allow the return of the refugees; likewise the return of all the Arabic territories that have been occupied by Israel since 1967”.
