Aleka Papariga raises Palestinian issue in meeting with the President of the Republic. KKE denounces the use of Greek port by the US to re-supply the Israeli army
Yesterday, Monday December 12, KKE (Communist Party of Greece) Secretary General Aleka Papariga was received by the President of the Hellenic Republic Karolos Papoulias and discussed the situation in Palestine. The President of the Hellenic Republic Karolos Papoulias showed strong interest in the situation in Gaza and was briefed by Aleka Papariga about her recent visit to Palestine.Following the meeting with the President of the Republic, the Secretary General of KKE speaking to the journalists noted that real help and solidarity to the Palestinian people means demanding independent Palestinian State at the borders of 1967 with East Jerusalem as its capital. She demanded an immediate end to Israel's attack, pointing out that the term “ceasefire” does not mean anything since it puts the victim and the aggressor on equal footing. “The Israeli raid must stop now; the Israelis must withdraw from all Arab territories without conditions. This is our position”, she concluded.
She also denounced the use of the port of Astakos for the re-suppling of the Israeli army by the US. Aleka Papariga rejected the denials of the Greek government and accused it of concealing real facts. She pointed out that there is a US Navy spokesman's statement that confirms the transfer of ammunition from Astakos port.
Aleka Papariga will visit the town of Astakos on Wednesday 14th of January, and will participate in a demonstration organized by the party’s branches in the area, against its use for the supply of the Israeli army.
On Sunday January 18th, KNE will also held a pan-hellenic mobilization at Astakos asking to be shut down for the supply of Israel. The parliamentary group of KKE submitted to the government a question on the issue.
