Statement by KKE MEP regarding the scadalous EU directive on immigrants
On Tuesday 17th June, the plenary of the European Parliament debated on the draft directive regarding “The common standards and procedures for the return of the illegal immigrants currently in the European Union”.During the debate, Thanasis Papfilis MEP of KKE underscored:
“Refugees and immigrants, the victims of the EU imperialist policy are treated savagely, like criminals. The draft directive, that you put to the vote, is unacceptable and reveals in a cynical manner the inhuman character of the EU and its policy. Your legislation lays down an 18month detention of poor immigrants and children in concentration camps under deplorable conditions that disgrace the human culture. You also ban any future re-entry to the EU territory for five years, even if it is legal.
The provision regarding the voluntary return is totally misleading. In fact it’s blackmail. It’s like saying: either you leave voluntarily, or you’ll be sent to prison and deported after 18 months. You treat them like criminals, although they are the victims of your policy.
First you bomb Afghanistan and then you complain about the refugees. One the one hand you have exploited the wealth of the third world countries, and on the other you complain about the economic immigrants who are actually used to increase the profits of the big capital.
The new measures will increase the business of the slavers and their networks; the prices will get higher as a result of the strict measures. Furthermore, the position of the immigrants and the other workers will be deteriorated as they will be forced to work without rights under the threats of deportation. The workers in Europe and beyond the borders of Europe will not accept these measures; you can be sure about this. “
