33rd Festival of KNE-Odigitis
The central event of the 33rd Festival of KNE –Odigitis took place on Sunday 7 of October in the Stadium of Peace and Friendship in Faliro –Athens.This year the central activities of the Festival had their own particularities . Due to elections and the successful results for KKE assumed a a celebrating character. Additionally, the CC of KNE decided to offer all incomes from this Festival to the students of the fire-stricken areas of Peloponnesus
Aleka Papariga, Secretary General of the CC of KKE, addressing an impressive audience of thousands of young people, focused on KKE's increased responsibilities following the results of the general elections. She noted that the electoral success encloses a new impetus and that KKE is the only party that is strengthening, consolidating and widening its whatever achievements. Commenting the political developments Aleka Papriga underscored that the crisis that has erupted in PASOK is a manifestation of the overall crisis of the socialdemocratic strategy, and reiterated that KKE will use its electoral strength utilising for the benefit of the class struggle, for the benefit of the people's interests and for the benefit of young people.
Summarizing the tasks that lay before the communists she said: “We have one single choise: to learn from our experiences and the everyday developments in order to become more militant, more effective and well-aimed in organizing the people, in rallying radical forces, in promoting the developments of the class struggle and the alliances. We have to be every day more educated, politically, ideologically, culturally in order to confront a class opponent that tries to avert by all means the tomorrow that is afraid of…. The 21st century, its very first decades, will not be the same with the end of the 20th centrury. The peoples will counterattack, because it is history itself that moves onwards”
The Festival was also addressed by the Secretary of KNE Giannis Protoulis, newly elected MP of KKE, as well as by Miguel Madeira, president of WFDY. Coinciding with 40 years since the from the assassination of Enresto Che Guevara, the Festival had also a special focus on the distinguished revolutionary. An exhibition of political posters from all over the world, devoted to Che Guevara and a special video about his life and struggle were part of the program of the 33rd Festival of KNE and Odigitis
The Festival closed with concert with famous singers of Greece.
