A delegation by the Communist Party of Greece (KKE), headed by Aleka Papariga, General Secretary visits Lebanon. The visit take place at the invitation of the country's Parliament Speaker Mr. Nabih Berri.During the visit, the delegation will hold talks with Nahib Berri, with Chaled Hadata General Secretary of the Lebanese Communist Party and with other leaders of the political parties and movements, while it will also visit regions in southern Lebanon that were hit by Israeli raids in July 2006.
Aleka Papariga, General Secretary of KKE on Monday, April 23 met visiting Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas, stressing the KKE's determination to continue the struggle in support of the Palestinian people.
"We are aware that in recent years, both New Democracy and PASOK, have not maintained a consistent stance on the Palestinian issue," she noted.
"Thanks to the many years of bloody resistance by the Palestinian people, recently from the Lebanese people and the Iraqi resistance, the Palestinian problem has not yet ended negatively," she added.
Al. Papariga stressed that "the United States and other imperialists had not yet succeeded in "burying" the problem".
"For this reason, the road must be kept wide open for seeking a substantive solution of the Palestinian problem by creating a truly independent Palestinian state, and not a protectorate as the plans of the imperalists say" .
