Extraordinary Regional Meeting: Solidarity with the Cuban people
Athens, 19-20 August 2006
Declaration of Solidarity with the Cuban people
As a result of the communication of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and Commander – in Chief of the Cuban Revolution, Comrade Fidel Castro, on his state of health and the provisional delegation of hid responsibilities in front of the Party and Government, high ranking US officials have formulated more explicit statements about the immediate future of Cuba.
Already the “Commission for Assistance to a free Cuba”, presided over by the Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, pointed out in a report issued on June “the urgency of working today to ensure that the Castro regimen’s succession strategy does not succeed” and President Bush indicated that this document “demonstrates that we are actively working for change in Cuba, not simply waiting for change”.
For the men and women who are been lining in these days moments of terror, pain and bitterness by the indiscriminate bombings of the Israeli army, and for those moving away of the scene of the war, it is not difficult to imagine the character of such measures and the “announced assistance” if one considers the militarization of the foreign policy of the present American administration and its performance in Iraq, to which his demonstrated to support and embarrassing justification to the Israeli aggression.
In front of this increasing threat against the integrity of a nation, shared in common, internationalist and loving of Peace, and next to the accomplishment in September, of a World wide Solidarity Campaign with the Five Cuban antiterrorist fighters who keep prison in North American jails, by the only fact to defend the mother country that saw them be born, the participants in the Extraordinary Meeting of the Communist and Working Parties of the South and Eastern Mediterranean, the Region of the Gulf and the Red Sea celebrated in Athens during 19 and 20 of August 2006, we demand, that the government of the United States of America respects the sovereignty of Cuba and he abstains to promote terrorist actions against its people. All together ones we raise our voices to prevent, at all costs, a new aggression and urge you to carry out as many action s as possible in favour of the Five fighter’s cause.
Imperialism will never be able to crush Cuba.
