Statement of the PB on the anti-communist motion to PACE
The anti-communist memorandum entitled "The need for international condemnation of the crimes of totalitarian communist regimes" that will be put before the next plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (to be held in Strasbourg next month), constitutes an extremely dangerous and reactionary development which should be met with the outrage of the people.
Imperialist terrorism, as exerted by the anti-communist memorandum is not aimed solely at communists; it does not only concern the communists. It concerns the whole of the people because it signals a move towards the criminalisation of the people's struggles, and even more specifically of the class struggle. It delivers a blow against elementary democratic rights and freedoms.
The Political Bureau decided that the Party should undertake a series of actions and initiatives on the issue:
Delegation of the CC headed byu the General Secretary Aleka Papariga will request meetings with the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and the Chairwoman of the Parliament in order to inform them and raise the question for the need for condemnation of the anti-communist memorandum.
