News from the campaign against the anti-communist motion to PACE
Several trade-unions, personalities and politicians covering the whole of the political spectrum in Greece have reacted to the information about the anti-communist motion to be presented in the next plenary session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on 23-25 January 2007, expressing their opposition and calling rejecting for its rejection. Some first names include
Evangelos Meimarakis, Secretary of the ND party, MP and member of the political affairs committee of PACE
Theodoros Pangalos, ex-minister, MP of PASOK and member of the political affairs committee of PACE
Themistoklis Xanthopoulos, Deputy Minister of Environment, Physical Planning and Public Works
Fofi Genimata, General Prefect of Athens & Piraeus, Chair of the National Association of Local Regional Authorities, member of the Executive Bureau of PASOK
Dimitris Paxinos, president of the Athens Bar (lawyers’) Association
Also the Supreme Administration of Greek Civil Servants Trade Unions (ADEDY – the national federation of civil servants) and the Pan-Hellenic Federation of National Resistance Fighters have issued statements against the motion.
New trade unions and figures of the political and social life of Greece join the protests to the Anti-Communist motion that has been approved by the political commission of PACE and it is going to be presented in its next plenary session on 23-27 of January:

At the same time the KKE and KNE will hold a rally against the anti-communist motion in Athens on January 19th, with main speaker Aleka Papariga, Secretary of the CC
