On the KKE voting lists
Aleka Papariga, General Secretary of the CC of KKE, presented the party’s voting lists at a central hotel in Athens WWednesday, August 22, 2007.
Al. Papariga said that the voting lists covering all the districts primarily included workers and scientists, who had distinguished themselves in struggles and honored by the employees’ vote at the Trade Unions and other bodies of the Movement. Many of them are not KKE- members.
As per date made public, 70% of the candidates are workers, 35% of which have graduated from universities. 40.48% are new candidates.
Regarding age, about 20% are under 35, 6.10% are farmers, 9% self-employed, 7% pensioners, 2.2% actors and artists and 23% women.
Earlier, she had visited Evangelismos Hospital, where she met with the managers and the staff. Al. Papariga expressed her objection to the privatization of the Health Sector and appealed for KKE’s support, accusing the New Democracy and PASOK parties of selecting issues to wrangle on.
